A new study has found that CBD may have the potential to prevent and alleviate Alzheimer’s disease. This study, which looked at Alzheimer’s patients of all forms and ages, showed that CBD treatment significantly reduced the time it took for neurons to escape, suggesting improved cognitive function in patients with Alzheimer’s.
Additionally, CBD helped ease the negative impact on those diagnosed over five days. Studying the navigation patterns further hinted at CBD’s potential to boost spatial memory in Alzheimer’s models. The study noted that the equivalent dose for humans from the study is about 115 mg of CBD, which would make it a viable oral supplement. Still, researchers reference that the potential role of CBD in combating Alzheimer’s “remains conspicuously absent from contemporary guidelines.” The findings highlighted CBD’s effectiveness in reducing synaptic damage, neuronal loss, and the over-activation of microglia and astrocytes while lowering neuroinflammatory markers.
While not a slam dunk, there are positive signs that CBD and cannabis use help restore memory and at least slow down the rapid spread of Alzheimer’s.
